Canton Fair

Niet het beste moment om Canton te bezoeken. De hotels kosten nu het 3 dubbele van normaal. Ook in de restaurants
hangt er een bordje waarop staat dat alle menu-prijzen met 5 of 10 % verhoogt worden omdat het fair is.
Als ik nu iets koop, zeg ik expliciet dat ik geen toerist ben en dat ze mij een betere prijs moeten geven. Bargaining wordt echt mijn specialiteit.
Ook het hotel heeft extra trainnees ingeschakeld om een handje bij te helpen. (ik vond dat er sowieso al veel te veel personeel was). Als ik met de kinderen van school kom, dan is de fair nog vol aan de gang en dus staan er wel 10 portiers te wachten om je uit de auto te helpen. Seth maakt er zelfs een spelletje van door 1 iemand uit te kiezen die vandaag het privilege heeft hem
uit de auto te helpen.

are signs indicating that the prices now are marked up with 5 or 10 % .
When I’m buying stuff now, I explicitly say that I’m not a tourist. I’m living in Guangzhou so they have to give me a better price.  Bargaining is becoming my speciality.
Also the hotel engaged some extra people to help out during this busy period.  ( Even before I already thought that there was too much staff) Now it is really exagerated. When we arrive from school,there are 10 doormen waiting to help us getting out of the car. Seth is fooling around with them; he picks out one to be the choosen one to help him today.
